Gudrun Hehl Gudrun Hehl

Though born and raised in Germany, Gudrun has made the United States her home for the last 3 decades. She spent her first 10 years in Texas, where she was immediately drawn to the Western heritage and hospitality of this big, beautiful state. "You can't claim to be a Texan until you have sat on the back of a horse", friends told her and this let to her first attempt at horseback riding, followed quickly by the realization that riding is not like any sport she had experienced. For Gudrun, riding is more than acquiring skills and improving on them. It is "entering into a partnership with your horse every time you climb on its back".

After moving from Texas to Southern California, Gudrun continued to ride and improve her skills under the tutelage of Callie Bell and another expert trainer working for Callie, Robin Dreiling. Training under Callie prepared her for her greatest adventure, working at the Lazy L&B dude ranch near Dubois, Wyoming. Following many years of being a guest, Gudrun was offered the opportunity to help manage the guest ranch and she spent four summers riding her own horse through the spectacular Wind River and Absaroka Mountains.

For the past seven years Gudrun has enjoyed teaching the beginner classes and getting new students started on their horseback riding journey. Watching her students gain confidence in themselves and their horse, give respect and earn the trust of the remarkable creature, is her greatest reward.

Chris Margrave Chris Margrave

Born and raised in Palos Verdes, Chris successfully showed as a youth for 6 years winning multiple championships in Trail, Horsemanship and Western Pleasure. At 15, Chris wanted a new challenge and began team roping. Soon after, he began working for a roping trainer and competed in cutting, penning, roping and sorting.

Before coming to work for Callie, Chris decided it was time to begin sharing the knowledge he had gained with others. Working as a counselor at a dude ranch, Chris realized the rewards of teaching and the gratification of watching the progress of his students.

Chris' amenable personality, patience and commitment to the success of his student's, make him an exceptional instructor.
